Sasikala had seen many such turning points in her life that no one would have ever seen. His life was full of ups and downs. She started with an average housewife and then over time became the helper of one of the most powerful women in Tamil Nadu.

In 1984, Shashikala used to run a video parlour called Vinod Video Vision. The shop was in Alwarpet, Chennai. Her husband Natarajan was a public relations officer in the government and was posted in Cuddalore district at that time. Chandralekha, an IAS officer at that time , was working as the collector of Kaddalore district. It was at the behest of Chandralekha that Vinod Video got an opportunity to film the meeting in which Jayalalitha was speaking. During the same assignment, VK Sasikala met Jayalalithaa for the first time. It may be a normal meeting but the events that followed were not normal.

The nearness grew after MGR's demise: Sasikala's birth took place in 1956. The place was the united Tanjore district of Tiruturaipundi. The father's name was Vivekanandan and the mother's name was Krishnaveni. Sasikala stayed there till the age of 5. Later, his family moved to Mannarkudi. She studied only up to 10th standard and on October 16, 1973, Sasikala got married to M Natarajan . The wedding took place in the presence of Mannai Narayanaswamy, who was also a highly influential leader of Tanjore district. The then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi also came to bless the two at the wedding.

When Amma expelled Sasikala from the party along with her relatives: In 2011, Jayalalithaa once again became the CM of Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, he felt that Sasikala was conspiring against him. So on December 19, 2011, he had thrown Sasikala and all her family members out of the party like a fly from the milk. Shashikala was also taken out of Poes Garden. All of Sasikala's relatives - Diwakaran, Dinakaran, Bhaskaran, Sudhakaran, Dr Venkatesan, Ramachandran, Ravanan and Mohan - including husband Natarajan - were shown the way out of the party. But it didn't all last too long. After three months, on March 28, 2012, Sasikala issued a press release. It said that he was never interested in remaining in the party or becoming an MP, a legislator. She just wants to be Jayalalithaa's true sister. After the release of this press release, on March 31, Jayalalithaa only got Sasikala's entry into the party. And after that, their friendship lasted till Jayalalithaa's last breath.
