New Delhi: A new beginning has started in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from Tuesday (October 18). Former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly's tenure as BCCI Chief is over. The board has got a new chairman, who is Roger Binny of the 1983 World Cup-winning team India. After stepping down from the post of BCCI Chief, Sourav Ganguly congratulated the new chief. Ganguly has said, 'I heartily congratulate Roger Binny. The new group that has been selected will work to move things forward. BCCI is in good hands. Indian cricket is progressing strongly, we heartily congratulate him.'
Let us tell you that after being the BCCI Chief for almost 3 years, Ganguly's journey has ended here. Earlier there were speculations that he might get another opportunity, but it did not happen. It is believed that Sourav Ganguly will once again join the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and may contest for the post of CAB chief. If we talk about the elections of BCCI, then almost all the posts have been appointed unopposed. Roger Binny has become the BCCI chief, while Rajeev Shukla has got the vice-president's post. Jay Shah has once again become the Secretary of BCCI, while Devajit Saikia Joint Secretary and Ashish Shelar has been elected as Treasurer.
It has been decided in this AGM that the Indian cricket team will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has informed that it will be considered to hold the Asia Cup 2023 at a neutral venue, as Team India will not tour Pakistan.
