NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has rejected Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's request to extend his bail. The court's registry declined to accept Kejriwal's plea, stating that he was allowed to seek regular bail from the trial court, making his request for an extension invalid.

On May 10, the Supreme Court granted Kejriwal temporary bail until June 1 to allow him to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. He was instructed to return to Tihar jail on June 2, after the election's seven phases concluded.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 as part of a money laundering investigation related to the Delhi Excise Policy case.

A vacation bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Viswanathan declined an urgent hearing for Kejriwal's extension request on Tuesday. In his application, Kejriwal had asked for an additional week, citing the need for diagnostic tests, including a PET-CT scan.
