SC has directed release of Subrata Roy on parole for four weeks

Friday, mother of Sahara chief Subrata Roy died this morning, and the Supreme Court has directed release of Roy on parole for four weeks to attend last rites of his mother.

However, the court said that “he would be under protective custody of the police. The court also sought an assurance from Roy's counsel Kapil Sibal that he will not try to escape or run away”.

the bench headed by Chief Justice T S Thakur, Justices A R Dave and A K Sikri gave the direction on a plea of Roy. Besides Roy, the apex court also granted parole to one of the jailed Sahara director Ashok Roy Choudhary.
