In the Indian state of Punjab, the issue of providing fake seeds to farmers is getting intense. A close aide of Jail Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has been accused of selling fake paddy seeds. After the issue arose, the farmer's associations of the state have also risen.

Bhartiya Kisan Union Dakhoda, Bhartiya Kisan Union Lakhowal, has termed the supply of fake seeds openly fraudulent to the farmers and warned the state government that if the farmers were not compensated for the loss of fake seeds. A movement will be launched against the government at the state level. The officials of Bhakuyu Dakauda have alleged that farmers have been being exploited economically by providing fake and non-refined seeds for the past several years in connivance with the Punjab government. He demanded that the government take action against companies selling fake seeds.

He said that the process of fake seeds continues every year and it is surprising how fake seeds reach the market to sell instead of the seeds approved by the university. The organization directly blamed the state government for this and alleged that the entire fraud of selling fake seeds was going on under the umbrella of the government. Also, the Akali Dal president said that the demand letters will be handed over to the deputy commissioners by senior leaders including district presidents, party MPs, former MPs, MLAs and representatives of the constituencies. He asked the party leaders to maintain social distance while performing their duty towards the rights of the farmers so that there is no compromise in the security arrangements in this time of the epidemic.
