Gwalior: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has addressed the recent statement made by former chief minister Kamal Nath regarding the idea of a Hindu nation. During his visit to the Gwalior-Chambal region, Scindia shared his observations about the prevalent discussions both inside and outside the parliament over the past month, coinciding with the preparations for the state assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking to the media in Gwalior on Friday, Scindia remarked, "I highlighted in Parliament yesterday that over the last month, with the electoral activities gaining momentum for the upcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections, there has been a noticeable increase in the references to the Ramayana and Mahabharata, both within the parliament and outside."

He went on to add, "We are witnessing frequent mentions of Lord Ram and Ravana, along with discussions surrounding practices like 'Janeu Dhari' and temple visits. There has been an upsurge in various religious ceremonies and rituals as well. Notably, the Congress party has included the 'Ram Van Gaman Path' in their manifesto, a significant move. However, I have faith that the citizens of our nation are well-informed and will see through any façade presented by the Congress."

Addressing Kamal Nath's statement, where Nath questioned the need for branding the country as a Hindu nation due to its overwhelming Hindu population, Scindia asserted, "Kamal Nath recently asked, 'What is the need for a Hindu nation when 82% of the population is already Hindu?' This topic itself has been a subject of debate. But these are figures that speak for themselves."

Scindia also shared his optimism about the inauguration of the Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lead the inauguration ceremony in the coming year.

Turning his attention to the opposition's I.N.D.I.A alliance, Scindia criticized the coalition, suggesting that it was formed out of a desire for political power. He remarked, "I reiterated in the House yesterday that parties with differing ideologies are joining hands out of self-interest. In 2024, the people of our nation will make their stance clear, ensuring that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secures a strong majority for the third consecutive term under the Prime Minister's leadership."

Responding to Leader of Opposition Govind Singh's allegations of wasteful government spending, Scindia acknowledged Singh's seniority but emphasized that the public's verdict would be delivered during the upcoming assembly polls. He stated, "Govind Singh ji holds a distinguished position as a senior leader, yet the final decision rests with the people, and their judgment will be evident in the upcoming assembly elections.
