New Delhi: On Tuesday, in an order to take preventative measures, the supreme court will hear the plea on directions to both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in the matter of the Cauvery water dispute.

Ahead of apex court’s order, section 144 has been imposed in Mandya’s Sanjay circle.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara directed the police to take precautionary measures. Also, he asks the police to keep ready fire engines and required emergency forces at sensitive areas around Cauvery belt including Bengaluru.

After the Supreme Court directed the state government to release 15,000 cusecs of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, the massive protests erupted in Karnataka, especially on the streets of Bengaluru and Mysuru on Monday.
