CHENNAI: Seeman, the head of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) and an actor-director, accused the Tamil Nadu DMK administration of simply making pronouncements and not carrying them out. He stated that Chief Minister Stalin made pronouncements on a daily basis, but that nothing was being done to improve the lives of the people.

Seeman also stated that the government must be more proactive and people-friendly, and that making big announcements during elections will not benefit the public. The NTK leader said in a statement that political violence has increased in Tamil Nadu in the run-up to the urban local body elections.

He said that two political killings in Chennai and Tirunelveli were linked to local body elections. He said,  free and fair elections is critical in a democratic democracy, and the councillor's seat is vital because his signature is required for practically all actions in the local region.

Seeman went on to say that councillors play a critical role in the construction of homes, as well as the provision of water, power, and drainage services, and so the position of councillor is critical. He added that the political killings were linked to a competition for councillor positions, which was used to extort money as bribes.
