Dehradun: In a shameful incident, a mother, along with her father, has made a deal for her son, tarnishing the mother-son relationship. Kankhal police have arrested the culprit mother, maternal grandfather, buyer youth, and her sister who was mediating the deal. The police have also seized Rs 5 lakh from the spot.

SSP Ajay Singh has patted the back of Kankhal police. Late on Thursday night, Kankhal police received information that the child was being bought and sold in a house near Rajvihar Face 1 football ground. Within minutes, the police reached the spot and raided and arrested two women and two men on the spot. Harshi, wife of Puran, a resident of Raj Garden Gali No. 3, told the police that her brother Mahavir had been married for ten years and had a daughter. Brother and sister-in-law wanted a boy, so a woman named Annu, known to him, talked about selling her divorced niece Monica's 3-month-old son.

Her brother agreed to buy the baby from Monica. City SO Naresh Rathod said that Monica wife of Arjun Thapa, her father Pintu resident of village Subkheda Ponta, district Sirmaur Himachal Pradesh and buyer Mahadev son of Deepa resident Ranipokhari Dehradun were caught. The SO said that innocent's deal was settled for Rs 8 lakh, in return for which the buyer had brought an amount of Five lakh. Monica, who has dealt with an innocent son, has married twice. She got divorced from her second husband a few months ago, the son she was selling. He is the child of her second husband. She has a son and a girl from her first husband. The woman said she worked as a domestic help and was unable to raise children, so she planned to sell her child.
