Strong jump in stock market, Sensex rises 480 points

New Delhi: On the fourth trading day of the week i.e. Thursday, the stock market opened with a rise. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) major index Sensex opened at 41,300.98 with a gain of 483.24 points, or 1.18 per cent. At the same time, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty opened at 12,156.10 with a strength of 130.75 points i.e. 1.09 percent. Investors have placed bets on the assumption that tensions in West Asia will no longer deepen.

Talking about the big stocks, JSW Steel, Infratel, IOC, IndusInd Bank, Zee Limited, BPCL, SBI, Tata Steel and Axis Bank opened up. The shares of HCL Tech, TCS, Wipro and Tech Mahindra opened on the red mark. If we look at the sectoral index, then all the sectors opened up today. These include FMCG, Pharma, PSU Bank, IT, Auto, Realty, Metal, Media and Private Banks.

The stock markets opened at 9:10 am during the pre-open. The Sensex was trading at 41,216.67 after gaining 398.93 points, or 0.98 per cent. The Nifty was at 12,153.15 levels after gaining 127.80 points, or 1.06 percent. The rupee opened 27 paise higher at 71.43 against the dollar today. On the same trading day, the rupee closed at 71.70 against the dollar.
