New Delhi: Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, and Lok Sabha Member Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor on Monday said that an independent investigation is absolutely essential in the Pegasus spyware controversy. It would be very bad if it was done by the Indian government or someone else without the permission of the government," he said.
If countries like Pakistan and China are making such interventions on the Indian people, it will affect national security. Responding to the Union government’s stand that there has been no unauthorized interception, Shashi Tharoor said that the government should answer whether an authorized interception was ordered.
