Mumbai: Namdev Shirgaonkar was elected as the president of the India Taekwondo executive committee without any opposition. The election was held at the Hotel Sun City Residency in Andheri (E) on May 21, 2023, with participation from all 25 affiliated state associations. 

All of the officeholders were elected without opposition, and the election process as a whole went ahead without a hitch. All required election regulations were strictly followed, with retired judge Bhagwatrao Gaikwad serving as the returning officer alongside retired deputy charity commissioner Sharad D. Madakre.

Black Belt in Taekwondo Namdev Shirgaonkar, President of the executive committee of India, expressed his delight at being appointed without opposition as the organization's leader. It is a source of great pride that the entire election process went off without a hitch, he affirmed. I will see to it that taekwondo spreads throughout our wonderful nation and enjoys enormous popularity. 

Taekwondo may not be widely known right now, but that will change in the future. The election was overseen by Kiarash Bahri (Coordinator - World Taekwondo - WT), Wanyong LEE (2nd Observer - Asian Taekwondo Union - ATU), Prashant Desai (Observer - Paralympic Committee of India - PCI), and Kiarash Bahri (Observer - Asian Taekwondo Union - ATU).

"Over the past few months, India has taken steps to realise their potential, and I am looking forward to the Indian contingent having a significant impact across international competitions," stated Kiarash Bahri, Coordinator of World Taekwondo - WT. India Taekwondo, under the direction of Namdev Shirgaonkar, is dedicated to raising the level of training and competitors. I extend my congratulations to the newly elected committee and give it my seal of approval. "I am very impressed with the quality and commitment of India Taekwondo to popularise the sport and have taken initiatives to make it accessible to many athletes," said Wanyong LEE, president of the Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU). 

Taekwondo, I believe, should be taught in all Indian schools and institutions because it is a way of life. We anticipate the growth of this sport and the emergence of India as a global power in the coming years under Namdev Shirgaonkar's leadership.
