New Delhi: Just two days before the Punjab assembly elections, on Friday (February 18, 2022), several stalwarts from the Sikh community met PM Modi in Delhi. During this time, The Sikh leaders greeted PM Modi by wearing shawls. PM Modi hosted big Sikhs from all over the country at his residence in Delhi. After this, PM Modi was seen giving a message from Delhi to Punjab while addressing the people of the Sikh community.
Among the delegation of Sikh leaders that PM Modi met was veteran BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa. In a video of the meeting shared by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the Sikh representative was seen offering a sabre to PM Modi. Earlier, the Prime Minister had announced that December 26 will be celebrated as 'Veer Bal Diwas' from this year to pay homage to the sacrifice of the sons of Sikh guru Gobind Singh. His move was lauded by various Sikh groups, Sangat's and common people across the country in a letter. PM Modi made this announcement on the auspicious occasion of Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh.
In Punjab, polling for 117 assembly seats will be held from 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday (February 20, 2022). Friday (February 18, 2022) is the last day of campaigning. The campaigning round will end in the evening.
