BANGALORE: Singapore Airlines is set to become the pioneer in utilizing BANGALORE Airport's Terminal 2 for international flights, according to a recent report. The authorities of Bangalore Airport disclosed on Saturday that starting from August 31 onwards, all scheduled international flights will operate from Terminal 2.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Bangalore Airport joyfully shared the news, declaring, "We take pleasure in informing you that commencing at 10:45 am on August 31, 2023, all scheduled international flights will both land and take off from Terminal 2."
The airport's tweet further highlighted that passengers have the option to download the BLR Pulse app, which provides details about flights, estimated waiting times, and queue information.
Based on a report from Moneycontrol, the inaugural international flight from Bangalore Airport's Terminal 2 will be operated by Singapore Airlines. As per Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), the flight by Singapore Airlines is scheduled to depart from Singapore's Changi Airport at 8:50 am on August 31, subsequently arriving at Kempegowda International Airport at 10:55 am on the same day.
Back in November of the preceding year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Terminal 2 at Kempegowda International Airport. This new terminal, constructed at a cost of ₹5,000 crore, stands out as an environmentally conscious facility primarily constructed using bamboo. Noteworthy features of the terminal encompass a five-lane thoroughfare to facilitate smoother vehicle arrivals and departures, specifically catering to passenger pick-ups and drop-offs.
The operations of Terminal 2 officially commenced on January 15, marked by the departure of a Star Airways flight from Bangalore to Kalaburgi. The terminal also introduces enhanced baggage drop amenities, an optimized immigration process, and an expanded array of duty-free shops, restaurants, and lounges.
In a development from May of this year, BIAL proudly announced that Terminal 2 has secured the IGC Platinum certification from the Indian Green Building Council. This recognition falls under the IGBC Green New Building rating system, highlighting the terminal's commitment to environmentally sustainable practices.
