Prayagraj: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the suspicious death of All India Akhara Parishad chief Mahant Narendra Giri. Prayagraj DIG Shtam Tripathi has formed an SIT and handed over the command of the team to Deputy SP Ajit Singh Chauhan. Earlier, CM Yogi Adityanath paid homage to Mahant Narendra Giri after paying his last respects to his mortal remains at Shri Math Baghbari Gaddi in Prayagraj on Tuesday (September 21, 2021).

Later, CM Yogi said that at present, police are arresting and interrogating Mahant Narendra Giri on charges of inciting him to self-immolation. According to reports, Inspector Mahesh along with Deputy SP Ajit Singh Chauhan has been placed in the SIT set up at Prayagraj in the Mahant Narendra Giri suicide case. In this case, DIG Shtam Tripathi said that some people will also undergo lie detector tests if required.

Police are said to be investigating two videos related to the death of Mahant Narendra Giri. A video talks about blackmailing Narendra Giri. The video is also mentioned in mahant Narendra Giri's alleged suicide note. The second video was made by Mahant Giri himself in which he has mentioned the conspiracy against him. Based on these videos, there may be big disclosures after checking.
