The government will launch a social security scheme known as the 'Chief Minister's Family Prosperity Scheme' from August 21, 2019. According to the scheme, 6,000 rupees per family will be given annually. This was disclosed at a video conference of officials chaired by Chief Secretary Keshini Anand Arora.

To get the benefit under this plan, the annual family income should be up to Rs 1,80,000 or two hectares of land. The meeting said that the head of the family has to fill out a simple form and provide preliminary details on the points like business, income, etc. He has to choose relevant social security options for different members of the family. The form will be available at Common Service Centres (CSCs), where beneficiaries will also be helped to fill up the form.

Under this plan, the beneficiary family will get Rs 500 per month. Out of this amount, under the Prime Minister's Jeevan Jyoti Yojana, the premium will be automatically paid from their account for life insurance of at least one member of the family in the eligible age group of 18 to 50 years. According to this, insurance cover of two lakh rupees will be given in case of death of the beneficiary. In addition, under the Prime Minister's Safety Insurance Scheme, at least one member of the family in the eligible age group of 18 to 70 years will be automatically paid Rs.12 per annum for accident insurance from their account.
