BANGALORE:  With only 3 days left to campaign in Karnataka, former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son and party leader Rahul Gandhi will deliver a speech to a crowd on Saturday.

Congress party sources said, Sonia Gandhi will be addressing a joint rally with her son in Hubli in the evening. The Congress has seleclted  this region for Sonia Gandhi's public event because the territory around Hubli has continued to serve as a testing ground for Hindutva politics.

Before joining his mother at the third public gathering, Rahul Gandhi will give speeches in Yamakanmardi and Chikodi in the Karnataka city of Belagavi. After May 2019, Sonia Gandhi, who is now the Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, will attend her first election public meeting.

On May 2, 2019, Sonia Gandhi addressed at the final public election gathering in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh. Her final public address was delivered on December 14, 2019, at the Bharat Bachao Rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.

She had taken part in a number of party programmes, but had avoided election campaigning and public gatherings due to health issues.

However, Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have been aggressively campaigning in Karnataka, hosting more than 40 public gatherings and road shows together.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has avoided bringing up the Adani controversy during the Karnataka Assembly elections in favour of keeping his campaigning on the local issues of corruption, unemployment, etc.

Even the Congress leadership, in addition to the Gandhi family, has been actively campaigning in the state.

In the southern state, the Congress presents a serious challenge to the in power BJP. In Karnataka, the Congress has been actively campaigning and has pinned the BJP on a variety of problems, including corruption.

In its manifesto, the Congress made a number of pledges to the state's citizens. Additionally, the party vowed to overturn "all unjust laws and other anti-people laws" enacted by the state's BJP government within a year of taking office.

In order to win over voters in the state, the Congress party made several promises, including Gruha Jyothi (200 free electricity units), Gruha Lakshmi (2,000 rupees per month for each woman who is the family's head), and Anna Bhagya (ten kilograms of their choice of food grains, such as rice, ragi, jowar, or millet) for each member of a BPL family.

Additionally, the party pledged to act firmly and decisively against those who or groups who incite animosity amongst groups of people based on their religion or caste. Additionally, it declared that if any groups like Bajrang Dal and PFI tried to incite hatred, they will be banned.

Congress has been pressed by the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over its choice to outlaw the Bajrang Dal in Karnataka.
