South Africa : In open voting, South Africa's National Assembly, the lower house of Parliament, defeated a resolution of no confidence in the Cabinet, which excluded President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The motion, proposed by the Official Opposition Democratic Alliance, was voted on during a hybrid plenary meeting shortly after members debated it in the Good Hope Chamber of Parliament in Cape Town, South Africa's legislative capital, according to the Xinhua report.

The vote was 231 against, 131 in favour, and one abstention, according to Deputy Speaker Solomon Lechesa Tsenoli.The motions would have resulted in the dismissal of all cabinet members, with the exception of the President, led by the ruling African National Congress.

Due to a disagreement over the procedure, a motion of no confidence against Ramaphosa presented by opposition party African Transformation Movement did not proceed as planned during the over-five-hour meeting, and Speaker Nosiviwe Noluthando Mapisa-Nqakula ruled that the matter will be dealt with by the National Assembly's Program Committee on Wednesday. Since the country's first democratic election in April 1994, the African National Congress has been in power.
