Visakhapatnam: Addressing health officials at a review meeting on seasonal diseases held at VMRDA Children's Arena here on Tuesday, the Minister said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the officials concerned to control the outbreak of seasonal diseases. He said that dengue, malaria and chicken pox are increasing in Visakhapatnam district, while dengue and malaria cases are increasing in rural and agency areas. 

The Deputy CM shared that this year 462 dengue cases were reported in urban areas, 708 malaria cases in agency areas and 24 chicken pox cases in Visakhapatnam. He called for special focus on rural areas and urged health officials to organize medical camps and awareness programs in the area and underlined the need to intensify sanitation measures in the areas. He said that steps should be taken to reduce dengue, malaria in Visakhapatnam and door-to-door fever survey is the need of the hour. He called upon ASHA workers, ANMs, volunteers and doctors to work towards reducing the cases of seasonal diseases in the entire district.

 District Collector A Mallikarjuna said steps have been taken to facilitate surgery in agency areas from October 15 and in hospitals in Araku region from November 1. The Collector said that full care has been taken for the prevention and control of seasonal diseases. "Dengue investigation will be intensified after 60 per cent cases are reported in urban areas," the collector said. Government Whip B Muthyala Naidu, ITDA PO R Gopalakrishna, health officials attended the review meeting.
