The Sports Ministry is considering an investigation into the involvement of the Indian team in an 'unofficial' form in a circle-style Kabaddi World Cup in Pakistan. According to the Sports Ministry, about 45 players and 12 officials have gone to the neighboring country without any official permission or approval. A Sports Ministry source told PTI, "The minister (Kiran Rijiju) is about to start an investigation into the matter." Another source said, "Any disciplinary action will start only after the players return."

The circle style kabaddi is played differently than the normal style. Both teams have seven players each weighing less than 80 kg in the usual style of Kabaddi, authorized in the Asian Games. There is no weight scale in the circle style and both teams have eight players each in this format played in a circular field. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said on Monday that it has not signed any kabaddi for the world-class tournament. The team's tour of Pakistan has not been approved. The team from India reached Lahore on Saturday via Wagah border to participate in the championship, which is being organized in Pakistan for the first time. After the team reached there, their pictures went viral on social media which caused a stir in the Indian sports world.
