New Delhi: Ten years ago, the entire cricket world was rocked by a terror attack. It was the first time in the world. In Lahore, about 12 people, carrying a gun in hand outside the Gaddafi Stadium, opened fire on a Sri Lankan team bus on a visit to Pakistan. Eight people, including six Pakistani policemen, were killed in the attack. Some of the players, including Sri Lankan team veteran Kumar Sangakkara Mahela Jayawardene, also suffered injuries but all escaped safely.

The attack almost stopped international cricket in Pakistan. But it is reported that after nearly ten years of attack, the Sri Lankan team may come back to Pakistan to play the Test match once again. Pakistan is likely to host Sri Lanka later this year. A Sri Lankan cricket security delegation visited Lahore and Karachi, after which Pakistan can host Test cricket after receiving a positive response. Sri Lanka will play at least one Test in Pakistan, a website reported.

If it happens, Sri Lanka will become the first team to play Test cricket after the Lahore terrorist attack in 2009. Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva said that they have received a positive response from the security team. He said, the Pakistan Cricket Board will talk about some options before coming to a decision. The Government will also be consulted. No bilateral series was held in Pakistan after the terror attack.
