India's star badminton player Kidambi Srikanth has said that he could not finish his second game in the final of the BWF World Championships. In the match, Srikanth was defeated by Singapore's Loh Kein Yev by 21-15, 22-20 to clinch the gold medal. Srikanth had to settle for a silver medal. He is the first Indian men's player to win a silver medal in the tournament.  Srikanth has said that he got many opportunities in the match but could not take advantage of it. In the 43-minute match, Loh Kian defeated Srikanth in straight sets. However, in the second set, Srikanth gave them a tough fight and the match ended at 22-20.

Srikanth praised Loh Kin and said that he kept the pressure and that is why he won. Talking to BWF, he said, "I had opportunities across both games, I had a good lead in the first game. Overall, I couldn't finish the match, but they played a lot. Sometimes such things happen. I tried to stay in the match and it worked in the second game."

Loh Kein is Singapore's first male player to clinch the gold medal in the tournament. Srikanth and Loh Kian, who had earlier clashed in 2018, won in straight sets. Recalling that match, Srikanth has said that Loh Kin has improved his level of play. He has said, "The last time I played against him was 4 years ago. It's been a long time. He has matured as a player and played much better. "

Srikanth lost despite the lead: Srikanth had earlier taken a 9-3 lead in the final and his victory in the first game was almost certain. However, the Singaporean later made a brilliant comeback to clinch the match 21-15. Now Srikanth had to win the second game to win the final and struggled a lot for it, but Loh Kein won 22-20 to clinch the gold.
