In a letter to the Chief Minister, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Vadra urged farmers to give more value of paddy and sugarcane, on which Agriculture Minister Suryapratap Shahi counted the steps taken by the government in the interest of farmers. Also said that Priyanka is saying that the price of paddy will come down. Remember that the Congress is responsible for the plight of farmers. Had the Congress worked for them, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not have to set a target of doubling the income of farmers.

On Thursday, Agriculture Minister Suryapratap Shahi told reporters at the APC auditorium in Vidhan Bhavan that when the Congress was in power at the Center, paddy sold in 2014 at Rs 1300 a quintal, whereas today nowhere in the state is less than Rs 1700 per quintal. He told that on 23 December, former Prime Minister Chau. Charan Singh's birthday will be celebrated as Farmer's Day. 33 farmers and three women farmers will be honored at the state level. Farmers will also be respected at district and block level.

In his statement, the Agriculture Minister said that so far a total of 5510 incidents of burning of straw and residues have been reported. Action has been taken in all on the orders of the National Green Tribunal. Recently, farmers have protested against the price of sugarcane. Due to which pressure is being seen on the government.
