Statue vandalism Row: Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar's statue vandalized in Meerut

In Statue vandalism Row Tripura, Tamil Nadu and Bengal staged protest and now Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar's statue vandalized by unidentified people in Meerut's Mawana late last night; Dalit community held protest & blocked traffic in the morning, ended the protest after assurance from the administration of installation of new statue.

Incidents of attack on statues of Communist idol Lenin, social reformer Periyar and right-wing intellectual Shyama Prasad Mukherjee have staged protests in Tripura, Tamil Nadu and Bengal. Security has been deployed in these states amid protests.

 In the press meet, Tamil Icon asserted that Tamilians will protect Periyar Statue.

 “There is no need to deploy police for protection of Periyar Statue. We Tamilians will protect it.I feel that this issue is just to divert attention from Cauvery issue, “said Kamal Hassan.

Concerned over such incidents, Union home minister Rajnath Singh asked Governor Tathagata Roy and state DGP AK Shukla to make sure peace and harmony until the new BJP-IPFT government takes charge.

Earlier in the morning in West Bengal,  Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee's bust was vandalized in Kolkata's Kalighat, at Keoratola Mohasoshan, Kolkata.

PM Narendra Modi also spoke to HM in this regard & has expressed his strong disapproval of such incidents.
