Gopalganj: As the crackdown on the liquor ban increased in Bihar, the demand for cough syrup has increased. In such a situation, the businessmen are now involved in smuggling cough syrup. This came to light when the product team seized the banned cough syrup in huge numbers from a bus at the Balthari check-post of Kuchaikot police station on the UP-Bihar border.

All these bottles were just hidden by making the basement. In this incident, the product team has also arrested two persons, including the bus driver, from the spot. The arrested smugglers have been identified as Amarjeet Manjhi of Mashrakh in Saran district and Uttam Singh of Delhi. According to the police, the ban on cough syrup was being brought from Agra to Patna.

On Friday, Inspector Deepak Kumar of the excise department said that on Thursday evening at Balthari check-post, Prabha Travels bus tried to enter Gopalganj from the wrong direction, after which it got suspicious and the product team stopped the bus and searched it. which is consumed as a drug. The inspector said two persons, including the driver, have been arrested in the incident, who are being questioned.
