Ujjain: In the aftermath of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue demolition in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, authorities have arrested 19 individuals linked to the clash between two groups. Following the incident, a substantial police presence has been deployed to ensure peace in the area. The clash erupted after unknown persons pulled down the statue, leading to stone-throwing between two communities. Presently, the situation is described as calm, with markets open in Makadon, and law enforcement is maintaining a vigilant watch over the region.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP-Rural) Nitish Bhargava confirmed that those arrested are facing charges of rioting and obstructing public servants from performing their duties. A case has been registered against 53 individuals from both groups in connection with the statue's fall, and 22 people have been detained for questioning. Women from the ST/SC category have expressed protests against the arrests.

No injuries have been reported from the clash, and a viral video captures a group using a tractor to bring down the statue. Police sources suggest that the group responsible for the attack aimed to replace Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's statue with one of Dr. BR Ambedkar. Authorities are working to ascertain the installation date of the Patel statue at the disputed site.
