On Saturday, around 200 outraged Meitie Pangal (Meitei Muslims) girl students staged a rally in the Muslim-dominated Sora twon in Kakching district to protest against Karnataka's hijab prohibition.

The demonstration was organised by the All Manipur Muslim Girl Students' Union (AMMGSU), and it started in Sora town and ended at the Deputy Commissioner's office (Kakching).

On the way, however, the demonstrators were halted by the police. Khuleibam Rukshar Choudhury, an AMMGSU adviser and prominent activist, stated they were highly opposed to the Hijab ban, which she said was "instigated by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh" (RSS)

Meanwhile, Chief Justice NV Ramana orally directed the counsel for a petitioner who is appealing the Karnataka High Court's interim judgement in the Hijab case to consider if it is appropriate to take the case to the national level on Friday.

According to senior counsel Devadutt Kamat, the high court has barred students from identifying their religious identities, resulting in the suspension of Article 25, which would have far-reaching effects. "The matter is already in the court." Tushar Mehta, the Solicitor General, argued that the high court ruling had not yet been issued and that it should be given time to consider the case. Mehta stressed that the issue should not be turned into a religious or political issue. "Don't propagate these things to a larger level...we don't want to express anything about it," the Chief Justice observed orally.
