New Delhi: The Supreme Court has sent a notice to the government on the petition of National Dalit Christians seeking Scheduled Caste status for Dalit Christians. The petitioner states that social conversion against lower castes does not end after conversion. He said that they should get the benefit of reservation. Chief Justice SA Bobde said during the hearing that the same applies to Muslims.

It is noteworthy that a resolution was passed in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In this proposal, the Central Government had requested that Dalit Christians should get the benefit of the reservation provided to the Scheduled Castes. This proposal was introduced in February last year. This proposal was presented by the state's CM Chandrababu Naidu. He said that for decades Dalit Christians have been fighting for reservation. Their demand is right. He also said that he should also get the same benefit that is given to Dalits of Sikh and Buddhism.

Instructing all states that special public prosecutors should be appointed to settle the cases related to POSCO.
