New Delhi: The Supreme Court has sent a notice to the Centre and the state government on the Right to Information (RTI). The apex court has sent the notice to the Centre and the state government under a petition filed by the Overseas Legal Cell seeking the launch of an online portal for the right to information in all states.

In its notice, the apex court has asked governments of all states to launch online portals for Right to Information (RTI) and respond to the notice issued at the earliest. It may be mentioned that there is an online portal for filing RTI only in Delhi and Maharashtra. Meaning here, people can access their right to information through online portals.

But there is no other state to have this facility yet, which has forced the public to repeatedly visit the RTI office for any information. The apex court has issued a notice to the Centre and other state governments to respond to the notice at the earliest by issuing a notice on a petition launched by the Overseas Legal Cell to launch an online RTI portal.
