Supreme Court toughened on child rape cases, gave these important instructions

NEW DELHI: Supreme Court has ordered setting up of special courts under the Pocso Law in districts where more than 100 cases of child sexual abuse have been registered in cases of increasing child abuse across the country. The Supreme Court has ordered that these courts should start functioning in 60 days. The court said that the fund for setting up of special courts under POSCO will be provided by the central government.

on July 12, the apex court had taken cognizance of the case, expressing concern and advocate Advocate V. Giri was appointed as a judge. The court has sought suggestions from Giri for passing necessary guidelines. It may be mentioned that from January 1 to June 30, there were a total of 24,212 rape cases in the country, with FIR registered. The court has decided to lay down guidelines for mobilizing infrastructural resources and other measures to deal with such cases.

Earlier, the Apex Court had said that rape incidents and data from children in various newspapers and online publications have made them nervous and worried. The court then sought data from all states and the high court on rape cases from children. The court gave information about the collected data which is shocking. The court also asked senior advocate V. While appointing Giri as a jurist, he had asked the state to respond to the guidelines for mobilizing infrastructure resources, video recording of proceedings to deal with such cases.
