New Delhi: In the matter of renaming the name of Prayagraj, the religious city of Uttar Pradesh, today, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Yogi Government of UP asking them to respond. This petition has been filed in the top court by an NGO called the Allahabad Heritage Society. This petition has been filed against the decision of Yogi Adityanath government of UP, under which Allahabad was named Prayagraj.

In the petition, the state government has been accused of destroying the 400-year-old identity of the city and tampering with the culture. Please tell that the Allahabad High Court has dismissed this petition. Please tell that last year, the UP cabinet decided to change the name of Allahabad to Prayagraj. After the decision was approved, Allahabad was officially renamed as Prayagraj.
