New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has ruled on a demand for action against employers who do not pay their employees full wages despite a government order during a lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The Supreme Court has ordered no concrete action against the employers. On the salary of the employees, the Supreme Court has asked the Center to reply in 4 weeks.

With this, the Supreme Court has said that till then no punitive action should be taken on the industries. The court said that talks would be held to facilitate the employees and employers of the labor departments of the state government. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a circular directing all companies and employers to pay the entire remuneration to the lockdown period without any deduction to all the workers and employees working here.

The Secretary of Labor and Employment also wrote a letter to the Chief Secretaries of all the states in which they were asked to instruct the employers not to remove their employees or reduce their wages during the period of coronavirus epidemic.
