New Delhi: Former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar has been shocked by the apex court. Sajjan Kumar, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, has been denied bail. The apex court has refused to grant bail during Friday's hearing. Sajjan Kumar had petitioned the apex court to grant bail as he was facing a lot of difficulties due to illness and growing age. But the apex court did not accept the plea.

Commenting during the hearing, Chief Justice S.A. Bobdey said that your medical report says that hospitalization is not necessary, so we cannot approve the release. The Supreme Court rejected the bail plea. Last year, a Delhi High Court bench had convicted Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 anti-Sikh case. Sajjan Kumar was sentenced to life imprisonment by the court and fined five lakh rupees. Earlier in May, Sajjan Kumar had appealed for bail before the apex court, but the hearing was then extended. But now the Supreme Court has rejected the plea.
