New Delhi: Uniform Civil Code is included in BJP's third core agenda after Ramjanmabhoomi and Article 370. The Supreme Court has given a big statement on this. The apex court said why no attempt has been made so far to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the country. A bench of Justice Deepak Gupta and Justice Anirudh Bose made these remarks in the judgment of a case. The apex court said, Goa is a glaring example of this in the country, where a uniform civil code goes beyond religion.

This is when the top court had clearly upheld this in three cases. Justice Gupta said Goa is the only state where the Uniform Civil Code applies to all citizens except the protection of certain limited rights. The constitution-makers, considering the Directive Principles of State Policy, had expressed hope and hope through Article-44 that states should ensure uniform civil code for all citizens throughout India. However, no action has been taken so far.

Hindu law came into existence in 1956, but no attempt was made to enforce uniform civil code on all citizens of the country. The bench also said, in 1985, the Supreme Court upheld the uniform civil code in Mohammad Ahmed Khan vs Shah Bano case, 1995 Sarla Mudgal and others vs Government of India case and John Vellamatam vs Union of India case in 2003, but now Till then no attempt was made about it. After the removal of Article 370 and the daily hearing of Ramjanmabhoomi case, everyone's eyes are on the next step of the government.
