New Delhi:Slamming Congress President Rahul Gandhi on his “Advani booted out” remark, Union Minister Sushma Swaraj told him to maintain some decorum of his speech.

Reacting to Congress president’s statement Swaraj called Advani as BJP’s father figure. She said, “Your words have hurt us deeply. Please try to maintain some decorum of your speech.”

The remark of Gandhi came after Advani was denied a ticket from Gandhinagar, a seat he has represented six times since 1991 and in his place BJP president Amit Shah was nominated.

Advani had written a blog post titled “Nation first, party next, self last” in which he had said that the BJP never considered its political opponents as "anti-national". His post was perceived by the opposition as a veiled criticism of the party leadership for labelling their opponents as anti-nationals.
