Top Indian swimmer Srihari Nataraj took out the 'Best Indian Time' at the Fina Short Course World Championships here on Saturday but the performance was not enough to take him to the semifinals of the 50m backstroke event.

He took 24.40 seconds in the men's 50m backstroke event to finish 26th in the heat. Nataraj, 20, however, could not reach the semi-finals as only the top 16 swimmers could participate. This is Nataraj's second 'best Indian time' in the competition.

Let us tell you that this Bengaluru swimmer did his record very well in the 100m backstroke event on an opening day. Nataraj participated in the Tokyo Olympics, the second Indian swimmer to have achieved 'A' qualifying time after Sajan Prakash for the Olympics.
