New Delhi: Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, representing the G20 presidencies of the previous and upcoming years, presented saplings to the current chair, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the G20 Summit's third session titled 'One Future.'
This symbolic gesture marked the commencement of the ceremony, with President Widodo offering a sapling to Modi, followed by President Lula da Silva presenting another sapling to the Indian Prime Minister. The exchange was met with applause from fellow leaders in attendance.
The G20 leaders' summit concluded on Sunday, with India officially passing the G20 presidency to Brazil. India achieved a significant diplomatic victory during the summit by securing a consensus declaration on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, overcoming substantial differences. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi announced the admission of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20.
