The presidential palace in Kabul hosted a flag-raising ceremony, accompanied by a speech from supreme leader Haibatullah Akhundzada, vowing allegiance to Islamic law and the protection of women's rights.

Nonetheless, the Taliban's governance tenure has been overshadowed by grave human rights violations, encompassing the curbing of women's rights and targeting of minority groups. The nation is grappling with an acute economic crisis, characterized by rampant impoverishment and widespread hunger.
