Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of spreading falsehoods regarding the allocation of funds to Tamil Nadu. Stalin emphasized the lack of transparency in the allocation process and urged the Prime Minister to disclose the recipients of the funds.
Stalin questioned PM Modi's claim of directly distributing funds to the people during his recent visit to Tamil Nadu, asserting that the funds were actually allocated to the state government. He emphasized the need for transparency by specifying the beneficiaries to verify whether they received financial assistance.
Highlighting the challenges faced by Tamil Nadu during recent disasters, Stalin criticized the Centre for not providing adequate assistance despite the state's plea for disaster funds. He pointed out that Tamil Nadu allocated over Rs. 3406.77 crores from State Disaster and government funds due to the lack of assistance from the Union Government.
In a bid to ensure transparency and gather public opinion on government schemes, Chief Minister M K Stalin launched the 'Neengal Nalama' (Are you fine) scheme. Through a dedicated website, people can provide feedback and opinions on various government schemes, enabling officials to assess their effectiveness and reach.
Stalin emphasized that the government's responsibility extends beyond just implementing schemes; it also involves ensuring that these schemes reach every citizen of the state.
Meanwhile, during his recent visit to Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the DMK for its alleged negligence during cyclone-related crises. He highlighted the Centre's efforts in directly sending money to beneficiary accounts and assured that any misappropriated funds would be recovered and utilized for the welfare of Tamil Nadu's people.
