Chennai: Tamil Nadu government named three metro stations on the name of former CM C.N Annadurai, M.G. Ramachandran, and J. Jayalalithaa on Friday. It has come in the government order that the name of Alandur station will now be 'Arignar Anna Alandur Metro'. Central Mato will now be called 'Puraichi Thalaivar Dr MG Ramachandran Metro' and CMBT station will now be called 'Puraichi Thalaivi Dr. J Jayalalithaa CMMBT Metro'.

Recently Chief Minister K.K. Palaniswamy said, 'The names of the stations were changed after the state government accepted the suggestion of the High-Level Committee.' He also talked about the steps taken by the AIADMK government under Jayalalithaa for the implementation of the metro rail project in the city.

During this, the Chief Minister also said, 'In the second phase of Chennai Metro Rail, three corridors of 118.9 km will be constructed at a cost of Rs 61,843 crore.' It is being told that the network of the metro will be spread from Madhavaram to SIPCOT, Light House to Poonamalay, and Madhavaram to Sholinganallur. In this regard, he said, 'The state government has passed the order in this regard, now the approval of the center and the fund is awaited.'
