Chennai: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government led by MK Stalin is set to launch a mega-vaccination drive in Tamil Nadu on Sunday under which all eligible persons in the state will be vaccinated for corona. The vaccination drive will be conducted on a weekly basis. Tamil Nadu Health Minister Subramanian had said early this week that more vaccines will be required for the vaccination campaign, so we have appealed to the Central Government to give the corona vaccine dose.

On the other hand, Greater Chennai Corporation said it has set up more than 1,000 'special camps' in the capital city for vaccination drive, including one static camp and two 'mobile' camps for each of Chennai's 200 wards. "We will protect ourselves, our home, and our country by vaccination against corona," Chennai corporation told from its official Twitter handle the microblogging portal.

The Chennai Municipal Corporation has also released a special song aimed at motivating more and more people to get vaccinated, which says 'Vaccine Podu, Maize,' 'Get Vaccinated, Bhai.' The song is being played by corporation vehicles across the city to sensitize the public about the mega-vaccination drive. In Tamil Nadu, 1,639 new cases of coronavirus were reported on Saturday. While 27 people died due to the last 24 hours. The total number of corona-infected people in the state has now gone up to 26,32,231 and the death toll has reached 35,146.
