Chennai: CID police in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, found a Rs 500 crore Emerald Shivlinga from a man in Thanjavur last Thursday (December 30, 2021). Shivlinga was kept in the Bank Locker. ADGP Jayant Murali informed the media about the same on Friday after receiving the Shivlinga. He said he had received input that a man in Thanjavur had a Shivalinga made of emerald. When the raid took place, Shivlinga was found in the bank locker of the man.

 

Police said a team led by senior officials conducted a search at a house at the 7th intersection of Arunand Nagar in Thanjavur on Thursday. When he questioned NS Arun, son of nearly 80-year-old NA Samiappan, at home, Arun said his father had left the ancient Emerald Lingam in a bank locker in Thanjavur. The Shivlinga was then taken into custody and sent by the police for investigation. According to media reports, the Shivlinga recovered from the bank locker weighs 530 grams and has a height of about 8 cm.

When Arun was questioned in this regard, he himself did not know where his father found such an ancient object. ADGP said he also showed Shivlinga to several gems men who have estimated it worth around Rs 500 crore. It has been verified with patrons like Dharmapuram Adhim. He has confirmed that it is real. Now, there will be a further scientific investigation and the temple in which this Shivlinga was kept will be identified.
