It was only recently that Ashwin Kumar Lakshmikanthan’s debut as a solo lead title, Enna Solla Pogirai, was announced. The film’s director Hariharan A had told us that they were on the lookout for two heroines for the romantic drama. And now, the team has finalised Avantika and Teju Ashwini as the leading ladies.

“We wanted newcomers as we wanted to give a fresh outlook to the breezy, triangular romantic drama. Avantika is from Bengaluru, and she has done many ad commercials and music videos. Teju, on the other hand, is from Chennai. She is a model and dancer, and had recently starred in the hit music video Asku Maaro (with Kavin). Both these characters have specific facets and I felt both of them suit the roles well. They performed well in the auditions as well,” says Hari. The girls play roles that depict today’s women in an urban setting. “Their characters are quite relatable,” he explains.

The director says that he had a tough time finalising the lead actresses. He says, “Rom coms have only a few characters and so we waited patiently to finalise the cast.” Apart from Cooku With Comali fame Pugazh, the team has roped in Delhi Ganesh and Subbu Panchu. They will be starting the film with a puja today and begin shooting by the end of the month, in Chennai.
