Telangana High Court takes big decision regarding ban on demolition of Secretariat building

Hyderabad: According to the recently reported news, the Telangana High Court has on Monday extended the temporary ban on the demolition of buildings of the state secretariat till July 15. According to the information received, a division bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice B Vijayasena Reddy has heard a petition of Professor PL Vishveshwara Rao and Dr. Cheruku Sudhakar on July 10.

During this hearing, he had stayed till July 13. Apart from this, the bench had also asked the government to give its answer with necessary details on all issues. In this case, the petitioners have alleged that the demolition of the present secretariat premises is being done without following the prescribed procedure of the law. There are 10 blocks in this complex. Not only this, the petitioners have also alleged that 'this step of the Government is against other laws including Construction and Demolition Waste Management Rules 2016, Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 and Environmental Protection Act 1986'.

Apart from this,by extending the ban period, the court has instructed the government to file a cabinet decision on the demolition in a closed envelope. The Chandrashekhar Rao-led government started the demolition of the old secretariat on July 7.
