Three forest officials and a guard have been suspended in the case of the death of three wild elephants in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. An official gave information about this. A Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Balrampur district has been issued a show-cause notice alleging negligence during duty.
A senior forest department official said that suspension orders and show cause notices were issued on Saturday evening. As per orders, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (Rajpur) KS Khutia, Range Forest Officer (Rajpur) Anil Singh, Deputy Ranger (Gopalpur) Rajendra Prasad Tiwari, and Forest Guard Bhupendra Singh have been suspended.

The body of an elephant was found on 11 June in the Gopalpur circle under the Rajpur forest range of Balrampur district, while two elephants were found dead on 9 and 10 June in the Pratappur forest enclosure near Surajpur district. One was pregnant. According to officials, all three belonged to the same group who had moved from Rajpur to Pratappur. According to reports, the elephant whose body was found on June 11 from the Rajpur Forest Range, possibly died on June 6. Forest employees are accused of failing to inform senior officials till June 11. It is also alleged that he took serious negligence in duty. He was found guilty of the violation of Rule 3 of the Chhattisgarh Civil Service (Conduct). Therefore, he has been suspended with immediate effect. The forest department has also issued a show-cause notice to Balrampur's DFO Pranay Mishra and sought his reply within a week.
