Kolkata: TMC has announced 'Ekla Chalo Re' in West Bengal. On Friday, TMC leader Derek O'Brien said that Mamata Banerjee's party will contest alone on all 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state. But Congress has still not given up hope from Mamata Banerjee. Regarding the future of India Block in West Bengal, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said, 'Discussions are going on with TMC. Mamta Banerjee has also said that the first objective is to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party. You-Tu-Main-Main keeps happening.

He said, 'It was the Congress party that made Mamata Banerjee an MP for the first time. Also see the name of his party. There is Trinamool as well as Congress in it. The doors of Congress are always open for TMC. We respect Mamata Banerjee. As per our expectations, all the 26 parties included in the India Bloc are united except Palti Ram (Nitish Kumar) and RLD. Earlier reports came that there has been talk of an alliance between TMC and Congress in West Bengal. Congress will contest elections on 5 seats and Trinamool on 36 seats. The very next day, Derek O'Brien talked about TMC contesting the elections alone.

Regarding the alliance in other states, Jairam Ramesh said, 'The special thing is that the official announcement of the alliance (in UP) has been made. It took time to finalize it. Today Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress are also making official announcement regarding the alliance. It was being said again and again that Congress was lazy and had no interest in alliance. But I always said that it takes time. Let us tell you that Aam Aadmi Party and Congress will hold a press conference today regarding seat sharing in Delhi, Haryana, Gujarat, Goa and Chandigarh.

These days Jairam Ramesh is present in UP with Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra'. Regarding Akhilesh Yadav's participation in this yatra, he said, 'We hope that Akhilesh Yadav will participate in the Nyaya Yatra in Agra on 25th February. We are ready to welcome them. Here Priyanka Gandhi has reached Hapur to participate in the justice march of her brother Rahul Gandhi. Earlier she was to participate in the yatra in Varanasi itself, but due to ill health she could not participate.
