Pune: A case of shame to humanity has come to light in Saswad of Pune district in Maharashtra. Here an egg-bhurji cart man poured hot water on the bodies of 3 beggars, due to which 2 lost their lives while the third was seriously injured. Besides pouring boiling water on the bodies of the beggars, they were also beaten up, after which, they died.

The matter happened on May 23 in Saswad. When senior police officers ordered an investigation into the matter, a case of murder was registered against the handcart. Police have arrested a criminal named Nilesh Jagtap in this case. Both the deceased used to work as garbage collection and also used to beg. They were living by begging from the people, so the police had cremated them considering them as unclaimed.

In this case, former minister Vijay Shivtare has levelled serious allegations against MLA Sanjay Jagtap. Shivtare alleges that MLA Sanjay Jagtap has tried to hide the matter by putting political pressure on the police and administration, so it should be investigated. He said, if the phone record of the MLA is also checked, then the real game will come out. People told that in Saswad city, these three beggars used to fill their stomach by begging. In the night, 3 beggars used to sit in the corridor near Ahilya Devi Market every day. Nilesh Jagtap used to sell cart egg bhurji nearby. According to the report, the customers did not come toward his handcart due to sitting near the beggars and this angered Jagtap. On the night of 23 May, Jagtap abused and assaulted these beggars in an attempt to remove them from there. An elderly man fainted due to the beating, and then the woman sitting next to him tried to wake him up. When the old man did not get up, the criminal threw boiling water on both of them. Two beggars died in this, while one was seriously injured. The Saswad police station is at some distance from where this murder took place. However, at that time the police ignored the incident. After the incident, the bodies of both the deceased were sent for postmortem, in which the doctor assumed death due to starvation. Ignoring the matter, the police had registered a case of sudden death.
