Siwan: A group of criminals armed with AK-47 opened fire on the vehicle of MLC candidate Rais Khan in Bihar's Siwan district on Monday night. Fortunately, Khan narrowly escaped the attack. Two of Khan's supporters were shot, one supporter has been identified as Bablu, whose condition is critical. There one person died.

The incident took place at around 11 pm in Mahuwal village when Rais Khan was returning home from office after the end of voting in 24 seats of the Bihar Legislative Council on Monday. A local man was killed in the attack, who was returning from a wedding function and four others were injured. Khan's vehicle was attacked by 4 to 5 armed criminals when they were crossing Mahuwal village. A car, which was behind the vehicle, was also attacked and a villager named Vinod Yadav was shot dead, along with two others in the same car.

The criminal-turned-politician Khans, known as the Khan Brothers, continue to dominate the Siwan following the death of Shahabuddin. Khan alleged that due to the elections, he was not provided with a security guard even after requesting the Collector in this regard. Superintendent of Police Shailesh Kumar Sinha reached the hospital at night, met the injured and inquired about the matter. He also inspected the incident site late in the night.
