Maharashtra Police arrests Twitter user over ‘Baby Penguin’ remark against Aaditya Thackeray

Mumbai: A man arrested for posting objectionable comments against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya Thackeray on the social media. Now, a Nagpur court hearing the case has sent accused Samit Thakkar to the police custody till October 30.

Giving information, a police officer said that Thakkar was produced in a court in Nagpur and was sent to a four-day police custody. Thakkar has 59,000 followers on Twitter and is followed by some prominent government officials on social media. Thakkar was arrested for her baby Penguin remark against Aditya Thackeray. At the time of his arrest by the police, Thakkar called himself a BJP official. However, the BJP has categorically denied Thakkar being the party's official or a member of the party's IT unit.

Mumbai BJP spokesperson Suresh Nakhua tweeted that Sameet Thakkar is neither an officer of the national BJP nor the state BJP unit nor is he a member of the IT unit. Thakkar was arrested from Rajkot in Gujarat on Saturday. He was absconding since he appeared at the VP Road police station in Mumbai in connection with the case.
