Shillong: The state government has issued a new standard operating procedure (SOP) regarding movement of private and public vehicles in East Khasi Hills district during the curfew relaxation from September 6. The new guidelines are to allow intra-district public transport i.e. city buses, mini buses including SSTS and SPTS buses, local taxis, auto rickshaws, and maxi cabs and inter-district vehicles holding all Meghalaya Tourist Permits during the curfew relaxation hours. Vehicles registered and arriving in East Khasi Hills District shall report to DTO, Shillong for submission and issue of vaccination status, subject to the following condition:

The following arrangements shall be strictly observed while moving in and out of the district. Vehicles registered and arriving in other districts shall prominently display their vaccination status issued by the Competent Authority on the vehicle. Vaccination status should be clearly indicated on the vehicles as per this Office Order No. C&S2/CVD/2021/ORD/159 dated 24th June, 2021.

It is mandatory for a single person driving a vehicle to wear a double mask or N-95. Use of sanitizer is mandatory. Proper ventilation of the vehicle is advised. All public transport authorities will strictly enforce the proper handling and seating of COVID-19 inside vehicles. It should be ensured that there is no breach of protocol. Smoking, and removing the mask is strictly prohibited. The government also clarified that legal action would be taken for violating the guidelines.
